Empowering families to break the cycle of homelessness
Hayley (name changed to protect privacy) and her family’s journey from homelessness to stability illustrates the far-reaching impact you can have. Caught in a housing crisis, Hayley’s family faced repeated rent hikes that forced them out of their home and into their car. With two young children and another on the way, Hayley struggled daily with the fear and uncertainty of life without a stable residence.
The Salvation Army’s support went beyond immediate relief. Hayley’s family received a range of services designed to restore stability, including temporary housing, financial assistance for essentials, mental health support, and help in securing a permanent home. This holistic approach ensures that families like Hayley’s not only escape immediate crisis but also gain the tools to sustain long-term housing security.
Funding life-changing youth in crisis program
By addressing root causes of hardship — such as childhood trauma, mental health challenges, and housing insecurity — our donors funded over 74,000 sessions of care for young people in crisis in 2023.
By ensuring the Youth In Crisis program can thrive, donors have helped support everything from transitional housing and education pathways to life skills training, creating a structured path out of crisis. With donor contributions, the Salvos are helping at-risk youth gain stability, empowering a generation to contribute positively to society and reducing future reliance on social services.
